Even the top manufacturers of uprated clutches have suffered some problems with slipping, when their clutch kits are used with the extreme power and torque of Group N Evos, especially on high-grip tarmac surfaces.
As a result, Exedy have released a special Group N paddle clutch kit, featuring their latest design disc (MBD008UB4), with 4 x paddles and a sprung centre, for quick shifts, reduced transmission shockloads and greater endurance.
This is combined with a high clampload cover (MC14THD) that achieves a 40% increase in clamping force over the Genuine OE part, which allows a higher torque transmitting capacity.
The clutch kit also includes the correct Exedy patented design release bearing (BRG601).
The Ultimate Group N clutch kit is suitable for the 5-speed Evo 7, 8, 9 and X. With this uprated kit, you will see improved performance over the basic Group N clutch kits offered by Exedy (which is adequate for those which may not have the ultimate in engine performance), and the variety offered by other clutch manufacturers.
